Top Contributors Recognition Program

Top Contributors Recognition Program

The purpose of the Top Contributor's program is to recognize those club members that frequently and consistently contribute their time and talent to further the mission of the club. We have found that about 20% of Club Members contribute about 60% of the time and effort needed to make the club successful.

See the Top Contributors for each year and where you stand this year here.

How it Works

Over the course of the calendar year, members accumulate points for engaging in activities as defined below. At the end of the year, members who have at least 25 points, will be awarded a Top Contributor lapel pin. In January counters are reset to zero and members start over accumulating points for the new year. The board may modify the criteria and points from time to time based on changing conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why even have this program? Is it a competition?
This is deliberately not a competition. We would love every member of the club to receive this every year. We want to recognize those members that go above and beyond in supporting the club.
  • Why are so many points related to performing?
Performing magic is the cornerstone of our club. It is by performing that we all learn and get better. Some members may chose not to perform. That is OK. There are other ways anyone can contribute.
  • Are Board Members eligible?
Yes, Board Members are eligible. In general they do not get points for performing their routine duties, but in many cases, Board Members are performing and volunteering for club events.
  • How do points for selling tickets work?
Members receive one point for every $10 in sales. This includes tickets you buy for yourself, family or friends.
  • I can’t volunteer the whole week for Magic Camp. Can I still get points?
Yes, Magic Camp is five half-days long. Points will be prorated based on participation.
  • What are points based on Board Discretion for?
We can’t think of everything. There may be significant volunteer efforts we haven’t thought of or that are very unique. Points can be awarded based on a board vote.
  • What am I supposed to do with a lapel pin?
Collect as many as you can. Wear them with pride. Put them in your  AAMC Baseball Hat. Wear them on your club name tag. Or if all else fails, wear them in your lapel.
  • How many points do I have?
Points will be posted in the Members Only section of our website. There will be instructions on what to do if you think your own point count is incorrect.
  • I'm too busy to volunteer.
Not every member is in a position to do all these things. That is OK. The Board believes every member is doing what they can to contribute. But, we want to recognize those that give and do the most.
  • The Club has all their events when I have to work, so I can't volunteer.
Unfortunately many of our public events need to occur at a time that will draw the best public attendance, which means… a good time to put on a magic show… which is also when YOU may be have a gig or are working for the same reason. We appreciate what EVERY member contributes, but we also want to recognize those that give and do the most.
