Greetings everyone!
We had a great time with Anthony Grupido and several guests at our meeting last week! PLUS, Rob Krozal and Carol Trask were crowned Homecoming King and Queen for 2016! (That honor, plus about $5, will get you coffee at Starbucks, btw)
Anthony took us on an almost step-by-step process for performing on the street, that was full of his personal and professional experiences. Thank you Anthony!
We have a couple performance opportunities coming up.
Sunday November 6th is a benefit for Children's Hospital. It will feature strolling magic as well as a stage show. The program runs from 3:30-6:30 pm at the Brighton Nazarene Church (7669 Brighton Rd, Brighton MI 48116). If you plan to perform, you must let Jim Placido know as soon as possible. This is coming up FAST! (jplacido7634@gmail.com or 248.231.2271).
The second opportunity isn't until Saturday, March 25th, but it's going to be even bigger! Held at the 850 seat Wayne Memorial High School and sponsored by the Westland Rotary starting at 2:00 pm, this is an outstanding opportunity for our club as we are featured for what will surely be a sold out show (the Rotary is handling all ticket sales and advertising). We need folks to work the lobby before and after, as well as a couple stage hands during the show. The show performers itself has been planned along with our Board and Don Oesterwind (president of the Westland Rotary, and a member of the club). It will feature Gordon Schott, Joe Fusco, Scott Mitchell, and myself, along with a short performance by Karl & Bill Rabe, and one other person we haven't confirmed.
The Club will benefit from a nice write up in the program, along with a $2,000 donation from the Westland Rotary! Keep this on your radar, and mark it on your 2017 calendar!
In addition to the lecture this past week, the Board also made Gene Fogel, of WJR Radio, an Honorary Member of the Club for his work over the years of not only promoting our events where possible, but also promoting magic in general in Southeastern Michigan. Thank you, Gene, and welcome!
